Dr. Greg Hawthorne
Dr. Hawthorne grew up in Marion, Iowa. He earned his B.A. in Biology and Chemistry while playing football at the University of Northern Iowa. He completed his D.D.S. Degree from the University of Iowa in 2001 and began practicing in Ames, IA.
Dr. Hawthorne is married to his wife, Amy, and they have three children; Drew, Ava and Will. He enjoys time with his family, coaching youth sports and playing golf and basketball.
Dr. Hawthorne enjoys his work.
Dr. Art Staniforth
Dr. Staniforth was born and raised in Ames. He graduated from Iowa State University, with distinction, in Elementary Education. Before entering the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, he taught 6th grade and served in the Peace Corps in Jamaica.
Dr. Staniforth and his wife, Jayne, a teacher, have raised three children. Dr. Staniforth is a life long Cyclone sports fan. He also enjoys painting, photography, and the great outdoors.
For thirty years, Dr. Staniforth has demonstrated great commitment to the dental needs and oral health of his patients.
Registered Dental Assistant
Jill graduated from Des Moines Area Community College in 1984. She has worked as a registered dental assistant for Dr. Staniforth since graduation. She lives in Nevada, Iowa where she grew up.
Jill is married to her husband, Todd, and they have two boys; Taylor and Braydon. She enjoys spending time with her family and staying active by jogging and being outdoors.
Sara was born and raised in Ames, Iowa. She moved to Colorado where she lived for 12 years and worked in a Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Office as New Patient Coordinator and Surgical Assistant. Sara and husband Chuck returned to Iowa in 1992 to raise their sons, Nick and Tanner and so they could be closer to family. Sara has been the Business Manager in our office the past 21 years. She is the granddaughter of H.G. Buck, the founder of the original Buck Dental Office. Sara’s father James A. Buck was also a partner in the dental practice until his retirement.
She enjoys spending time in the mountains and relaxing on the beach with family and friends.
Mari Johnson is a Dental Hygienist with the SCH team. She is a proud 20+ year member of this illustrious group. Mari grew up in Ames as did her husband, Jeff. Both are 1986 graduates of Ames High School. Mari graduated in 1990 from the DMACC Dental Hygiene Program.
Mari and Jeff have 3 children: Holly, Jaclyn and Ethan.
In their spare time, they enjoy watching and being involved in their children’s activities. Those activities include football, swimming and various AHS-AMS activities. They are fans of all AHS sports activities where they watch their children and their friends participate.
They are also big fans of ISU football and men’s and women’s basketball.
Lisa grew up in Lehigh, Iowa. She earned her certificate in the Administrative Assistant Program from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. She has been working here since 1994.
Lisa is married to her husband, Gary and they have two boys; Zack and Tye. She enjoys watching them play sports, spending time with family and friends and cooking.
Lisa really enjoys living in Ames.
Rachael grew up in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She attended UNI her first year of college. While waiting to begin the Dental Hygiene program she earned her AA and AS degree. Rachael completed the Hawkeye Community College Dental Hygiene program in May of 2006. She has been employed with Fifth Street Dental since November 2006.
Rachael is married to her high school sweetheart, Jon, and they have a chocolate Cockapoo named Mella. She enjoys playing tennis, being outdoors and watching movies.
Rachael enjoys her career and finds it rewarding to contribute to healthy smiles.
Registered Dental Assistant
Monica graduated from the Dental Assisting Program at Des Moines Community College in 2016. She grew up in Story City.
Monica married her high school sweetheart, Tavis, who is in the Air Force and enjoys anything to do with farming. Together they have a dog, Dyson, and a cat, Wesley.
She enjoys spending time outside, relaxing with family and friends, and smiling 🙂
